project highlight: the boarding house

I wanted to share something special we’ve been working on: The Boarding House Airbnb campaign is officially underway.

This place is one of the oldest buildings in Millersburg. It’s seen everything from train arrivals to family dinners to total vacancy. And now, for the first time in decades, it’s getting a second life. This renovation is a statement about where this town is headed.

It’s part of a bigger effort to revitalize Millersburg, and honestly, it’s been fascinating to watch the layers come together. Behind the scenes, the entire project is made possible in part through New Markets Tax Credits… which, in plain English, means a federal program that helps direct funding into communities like ours. The math behind it is complicated, but the result is simple: capital starts flowing into projects that matter.

We’ve had some incredibly thoughtful partners along the way. Gyor did the interior design for the space. Honestly, her touch really helped bring it back to life without erasing the history. Every room feels intentional, but still lived-in. Comfortable. Rooted. She brought the building forward without making it feel like it forgot where it came from.

Keith & Melissa Photography captured the spirit of it beautifully. Their photos don’t feel too staged. Looking through their gallery for the first time felt like memories that are already happening. You can see the house breathing again through their lens.

Shon Wylie helped us kick off the storytelling for the campaign. She transformed some really thoughtful historical context that gave us a solid foundation to build from.

And there’s a bigger story here, too: the Jan Wagoner Fund helps make Millersburg’s rural restoration possible. Jan believed in Millersburg long before most people were paying attention. Now her name is part of a project that will continue impacting this town for years to come. That kind of legacy is rare, and I think she’d be proud of how it’s unfolding.

This campaign is about doing the work, honoring the past, and setting up the next chapter with clarity and care. That’s what Millersburg deserves. That’s what this house deserves.

I thought you’d appreciate the update.
