Help a room full of listeners become a citywide audience.

Origins Jazz Series

Origins began with the intimacy and artistic purpose of a great jazz room. When ticket sales faltered around the second concert of the first season, Madeline joined the committee and built the connective work that helped audiences find the series and keep returning.

the case study

What was
in motion.

Lexington listeners regularly traveled to Louisville, Cincinnati, or Indianapolis to hear major jazz artists. Origins set out to create that experience at home: attentive rooms, adventurous programming, and a closer relationship between artist and audience.

The decisions that shaped it.

01

Join where the pressure was real

Step into the first season during the second concert, focusing immediately on ticket communication and the materials the committee needed to move together.

02

Create a complete small-series marketing desk

Manage photography, video, social media, email, flyers, posters, print production, and web design so every concert had a consistent invitation.

03

Connect ticket buyers and long-term supporters

Pair concert promotion with donor communication, helping the series develop the audience and support structure required for more ambitious programming.

What the work included.

  • Concert marketing and ticket-sales support
  • Photography and video coordination
  • Social and email campaigns
  • Flyer, poster, and print design
  • Website design and updates
  • Donor campaign

what we can point to

3 seasons

of early marketing and audience development

Madeline’s role covered the series’ first three seasons, beginning with the second concert in season one. No present-day programming is attributed to her after that period.

the outlook

Still playing

an independent series that grew into a major jazz festival

Origins continues under its own organization. In 2025 it presented the five-day Equinox Jazz Fest, bringing internationally recognized artists to Lexington alongside regional musicians and community programming.

A later Origins concert poster documents the organization’s continuation. It is shown as an outcome of the enduring series, not as work created during Madeline’s first-three-season engagement.
